New Real Madrid star David Alaba earns a staggering £ 412,000 a week and the Spanish club are wondering why they are in financial trouble.
Despite concerns over finances, the Bernabeu side went to great lengths to capture former Bayern Munich player Alaba on a free transfer.
They secured his services under a five-year contract, worth £ 412,000 a week.
Club president Florentino Perez said his team was in financial trouble, which is why the attempt to form the European Premier League was made.
Although he has the money allegedly to offer Alaba, 28, an astronomical wage package.
That's €25m p.a. gross, or £412k per week in PL terms.
Bayern had offered €16m p.a. gross.
It's an absolute mystery why Real Madrid (and Barcelona) are in financial trouble. https://t.co/eQHWmf7Btp

This is Real’s first big transfer of the summer and comes after the departure of coach Zinedine Zidane who left his job after the 2020/21 season without a trophy.
The multilateral Austrian, who can play in defense or in midfield, responded to his move by posting a message on social media.
He tweeted: “I am leaving a special club for another special club. I am very happy and honored to join Real Madrid.
“After so many years in Monaco I will face a new challenge and will do my best to continue the club’s special history. @Realmadrid”.
